Independent Realtor Performance Research
The Chicagoland Realtor Performance Study
Why do Realtors often know what to do but struggle to do it consistently?
We're inviting residential real estate agents across Chicago and the surrounding suburbs to participate in an independent study exploring what influences execution and consistency in their businesses.
Our goal is to learn from real agent experiences—not assume we already have the answers.

The Question Behind the Research
Knowing what to do isn't always the same as doing it.
Realtors have access to training, technology, strategies, and information about how to build their businesses.
Yet having that knowledge doesn't always translate into consistent action.
Why? That's the question we're exploring.
Rather than assuming the answer is motivation, discipline, mindset, or any single factor, we're gathering firsthand perspectives from Realtors about what actually happens in their businesses.
We want to better understand the experiences and circumstances that may influence the gap between intention and action.
Knowledge
What agents know
Execution
What happens when it's time to act
Consistency
What happens over time
A simple way to frame the question. It is not a validated model.
Your Perspective Matters
We're looking for a wide range of Realtor experiences.
Whether you've been in real estate for one year or twenty, whether your business feels consistent or unpredictable, your experience can contribute to a better understanding of Realtor performance.
We're seeking perspectives from actively practicing residential real estate agents throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
Different experience levels
Newer agents, experienced agents, and long-established professionals.
Different business experiences
Agents experiencing consistency, inconsistency, growth, setbacks, or periods of transition.
Different Chicagoland markets
Agents primarily serving Chicago, suburban communities, or multiple markets throughout the region.
There are no right or wrong answers. We're interested in understanding your experience, not evaluating your performance.
How It Works
A few minutes of your perspective can contribute to a much bigger question.

Your Responses. Your Privacy.
We're interested in your experience, not your identity.
The survey is designed to collect anonymous responses.
We are not asking participants to provide their names, email addresses, or brokerage affiliations as part of their survey answers.
Individual survey responses will not be shared with managing brokers, brokerage owners, team leaders, or other participating organizations.
Survey links may differ depending on how an invitation is distributed. This helps us understand which outreach channels are generating participation, without asking agents to identify themselves.
Research findings will be shared in aggregate, with attention to avoiding the identification of individual participants.
About the Research
An ongoing investigation into Realtor performance.
The Chicagoland Realtor Performance Study is led by Michael Opyd as part of his ongoing work through Realtor Performance.
The broader investigation explores why knowing what to do doesn't always translate into consistent action—and what we can learn by examining the experiences of working Realtors.
This study is one part of that larger research effort.
We're documenting meaningful observations, emerging questions, and the evolution of our understanding as the work progresses.
