Affirmations
Point your mind in the right direction.
Your mind has two basic functions: to keep your body functioning and to keep you safe. We obviously have no control over the first function (that’s probably a good thing), but we do have control over the second one. If left to its own devices, your mind will focus on what it thinks is best for you. It will keep things simple and safe. Think of your mind as a computer that comes with basic functions or hardware. It is not until programs (software) are downloaded that it knows what else to do. This is where affirmations come in.
For the longest time, I did not believe in affirmations. I thought repeating sentences over and over was ridiculous and a waste of time. Then, when I was having a challenging period, I decided I would give them a try to get myself into a better place mentally. I had no idea what I was doing, so I just started saying anything I could think of until I found what I felt was fitting for me at that time. I started saying them every morning, but I didn’t just say them in monotone; I really got into them. I would say them with emotion and would get my whole body into it. I wanted to ensure I did everything possible so my mind knew where I wanted it to go. Before long, I felt the change in my days and how I went about them. I was much happier and began seeing things I had not noticed before!
Fast forward to today, and I still say affirmations every morning. I have just refined them a lot since I started. I have also tailored them to what I want to focus on.
Creating Your Affirmations
To help you get started, here is what I say to myself every morning:
“I’m confident. I’m focused. And wealth, love, energy, and happiness flow to me in infinite ways and infinite abundance.”
Now, think about your life. What do you want? What areas need improvement? What do you want your mind to focus on? Once you have the answers to these questions, write down what you want to happen to make these become a reality. Then, put everything together in a sentence or two. It’s that simple, but the impact they can have is tremendous!
Just remember to say them daily and with energy or they won’t stick.
NOTE: Life changes often and it is perfectly fine adjust them to match your current circumstances.
