The ONE Newsletter: Creating a Strong Mindset

ONE LESSON

Earlier in my career, I was sitting at a closing table with my buyers who were buying a $600K new construction property. I had been working with them for six months on this property, and we were finally ready to close it. Unfortunately, the developer did not hold up their end of the bargain, and my clients had to walk away at the closing (rightfully so). To say that I was frustrated, angry, and furious is an understatement. All of the work I had put in was for nothing, and I had to start with my buyers all over again.

Later that same day, I had an interview for a $700K listing. I had to put what happened in the morning behind me and just focus on getting the listing. I did! I went in and killed the presentation, then sold the property for over list price a few months later.

LESSON LEARNED: Always Stay Positive

Our days are filled with ups and downs. It is easy to enjoy the highs, but we tend to magnify the lows. You cannot carry negative emotions into other parts of your day. Take time to appreciate what happened, then move your mindset into positivity and move on. The more you let negative emotions control you, the more challenging everything else becomes.

ONE TIP

Feeling frustrated? Anytime you are, stop what you are doing, take a deep breath, and remind yourself that you cannot change (or control) the past. Instead, focus on what you can control in the present and what you want to achieve in the future.

ONE QUOTE

American talk show host, television producer, actress, and author Oprah Winfrey on mindset:

”You become what you believe.”

ONE QUESTION

What is stopping you mentally from achieving your dreams?

Think about what you are consciously doing each day that is preventing you from living the life you want. For example, binge watching Netflix shows instead of working on your business? Or are you spending hours scrolling aimlessly on social media?
